About Us
The idea of Central Cares all started back in 2016 when three of our founders met on an LDS mission in Belize. While they were there, a large tropical storm hit the area causing lots of damage. They spent several weeks serving the Belizean citizens in any way they could to try to get the country back up and running. It was during this time that they started thinking about what more they could do to help the country of Belize, even after they returned home after their 2 years of service.
In December of 2019, Central Cares Non-Profit was officially started by those three missionaries. After a few local projects, the group decided to start working toward a renovation project in Belize for May 2022. They got in touch with contacts they had in Belize to identify the school that needed the most attention in the area and got to work collecting donations. After a very successful trip in 2022, the team planned and carried out a second trip in May of 2023 where they were able to renovate another school. Central Cares is now shifting from renovation projects to the building up of a new school from the ground up. In Belize, schools are ran by different church organizations that teach religious principles of that denomination in their curriculum. Central Cares' school will focus on teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
